thealternativeweddinglist is the charitable gift list with choice, with a variety of gifts to a number of charities so your guests can make donations that change lives.
When you register, you will be asked to select one of the groups of different charities they've put together - there are groups based on where they operate (e.g. 'Make a Difference in Africa' list), groups based on gift price (e.g. 'Up to £40' list), as well as groups containing a broad selection of both charities that work at home and charities that work overseas. The Example Lists show you the range of gifts.
Once you give your guests the details, your guests simply log on and pick a gift, or gifts, from the selection of charities on your list. They provide some details to enable them to reclaim Gift Aid from the taxman, and pay for these gifts online (through Secure Trading, the UK's leading independent internet payment service provider). There are no extra hidden costs for your guests.
Your guests get a receipt for their donation, you can log on whenever you want to find out who has donated to which charities, and they will send you a certificate after your wedding confirming totals donated to each charity.100% of your guests' donations will go to the charity whose gift they have selected.
We then reclaim Gift Aid from the taxman on behalf of the charities. We use some of this to fund the service (card processing costs, administration, marketing etc) and pass on the remainder to the participating charities.
Participating charities regularly review our expenditure and help us keep the service as efficient as possible. |
